Building a Global Mobility Program from Scratch: Lessons from Klaviyo’s IPO-Ready Playbook

What does it take to launch a Global Mobility program from zero—under tight timelines, in a hypergrowth environment, and just months before a company’s IPO? For Amanda Santamour, Global Mobility Leader at Klaviyo, the answer lies in strategic clarity, internal partnerships, and the right technology foundation.

On the latest episode of The View From The Top, Amanda shared how she built Klaviyo’s mobility program from the ground up—her second time doing so—and why she partnered with Benivo to get it done.

The Starting Point: A Clean Slate with Urgency

Amanda joined Klaviyo just two months before the company’s IPO. The company had no formal mobility program—just ad hoc practices, legacy exceptions, and a lump-sum model that didn’t scale with global expansion. With international growth on the horizon and the scrutiny of IPO-readiness looming, Amanda’s mission was clear: create a program that balanced agility with compliance and scale with the business.

 The 30/60/90/365 Plan

Amanda deployed a structured, phased approach:

  • 30 Days: Conducted program discovery and performed a compliance audit. Where are your people? Were they on the right visas? What promises had been made?
  • 60 Days: Rolled out a stop-gap program. This interim model allowed her to standardize intake, reduce risk, and avoid new one-off exceptions.
  • 90 Days: Started gathering real-time data to identify performance of the prior and interim programs - what is working, where gaps exist, and how to structure successful long-term support.
  • 365 Days: Full policy launch, internal stakeholder education, and integration with Benivo’s platform for real-time insights, process automation, and cost control.

Meeting the Business Where It Is — Without Compromise

Instead of overhauling the lump-sum model, Amanda optimized it. The key? Equipping employees with access to self-service relocation resources, curated vendor networks, and destination insights, without layering on unnecessary manual processes or costs.

With Benivo, Klaviyo gained:

  • Peer-reviewed destination content to empower employees
  • Vetted vendor access directly in-platform
  • 24/7 live support for those who needed a human touch
  • PayLater, Benivo’s cash advance feature, to bridge onboarding delays — at no cost to Klaviyo or its employees
  • Real-time cost estimates and automated reporting to drive stakeholder alignment

This wasn’t just about better employee experience. It was about data. The Benivo platform provided Amanda with the visibility, automation, and analytics she needed to win buy-in across HR, Talent, and Finance teams.

The Big Takeaway: You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

One of Amanda’s biggest lessons? “Don’t try to do it all yourself.” She emphasized the importance of cross-functional partnerships and vendor collaboration, particularly when building something from scratch. Whether it’s educating stakeholders, standardizing approvals, or centralizing cost data, success comes from shared ownership.

And that’s where technology like Benivo plays a game-changing role—not just for the employee experience, but for program scalability and strategic visibility.

What’s Next for Klaviyo?

Even with a successful launch, Amanda knows the work is never done. She continues to iterate based on platform data, employee feedback, and the evolving needs of a growing global company.

Her advice for others starting from zero? Start with compliance, align with your company’s culture, and choose tech that grows with you.
