A head start for the best teachers - Benivo’s social impact partnership with Teach First

Benivo is proud to announce our partnership with Teach First. We will be working together to ensure that no child’s educational success is limited by their socio-economic background.

This includes Benivo’s support to help Teach First teachers have the best start in their local area and school, supporting Teach First to place teachers where they are needed.

One brilliant teacher alone can change a child’s life. Setting the right example, providing inspiration in the right moment, awakening a thirst for success - that’s what rags-to-riches stories and the best Oscar acceptance speeches are made of.

Since their start in 2002, Teach First have changed hundreds of thousands of children’s lives.

The public school system doesn’t foster social mobility as much as it could: Compared with children from affluent backgrounds, students from lower income families are half as likely to achieve top grades and get into the best schools, are less likely to get an apprenticeship placement, and get paid 10% less, on average.

The charity fights this inequality by training extraordinary teachers and leaders who make a real difference in children’s lives, and place them in schools in low-income areas across England and Wales.

Benivo’s mission to make every employee welcome is strongly aligned with Teach First’s mission, and we are very passionate about giving every child a fair shot at life.

We started Benivo because we wanted to ensure that early career employees have a fair chance to apply their talent in the best company for them, regardless of financial background. If your parents cannot help you finance your move to a new city for your dream job, it shouldn’t impact your career. So when we receive letters from employees who tell us that without Benivo they couldn’t have started a particular career, we know that we’re fulfilling our mission.

Globally, 50 million people relocate for work. Most of them with little or no support from their employer.

That’s why we are excited to partner with Teach First and help their teachers have the best start in their local area and school.

How does the partnership work?

In our social impact outreach program, we donate one employee registration for every 10 purchased. The first charity we launch this with is Teach First.

That way, not only do our clients directly improve the lives of children across the country, they can even put a name and face to the teachers they have supported. Moreover, they invest in their future talent. By providing better education, companies will benefit from better employees in the future.

Teach First will receive the full range of Benivo welcome experience, including:

  • PayLater, with which teachers can delay the majority of their first rent payment until after they get paid - this gives everyone an equal opportunity, regardless of their financial background.
  • Detailed information about their new area - where to find the most important services for settling in and making the new place a home.
  • A welcome pack to give them the feeling of having arrived, and heighten their sense of excitement about the adventure that awaits them.
  • Location guides building the excitement about moving to a new location
  • Keep warm - a means to stay engaged with local and relocating employees between offer acceptance date and day 1 on the job
  • Predictive analytics - ability to forecast which employees are likely to drop, in order to take an immediate action to turn the situation around

In 2018, Benivo will provide its welcome experience to 1,500 teachers.

This project wouldn't have been possible without our clients who invest in giving their employees the best welcome experience, and make every employee welcome on their first day.

We are excited to extend this support to a fantastic charity and their hard-working teachers who make a huge impact of the future of education and our country.

But most of all we look forward to make the Teach First teachers’ first days in their new environment as easy and fun as possible.
